Rutgers University Hillel is fortunate to have an outstanding and diverse staff. These amazing people work day in and day out to make the Rutgers campus a wonderful place to be Jewish. If you have any questions or wish to talk to any one of them, please email or call them.


Andrew Getraer
Executive Director

Andrew was born in Geneva, Switzerland and grew up in Queens, Westchester, and Greens Farms, CT. He is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and Dartmouth College, where he met his amazing wife Jean. They live in Highland Park with their five children, Sandy, Alec, Benjy, Lindsay, and Sarah and their dog Colby. Arnold Schwarzenegger once sent him a Christmas tree in the mail.

Rabbi Esther Reed
Associate Director for Jewish Campus Life

Rabbi Reed grew up in East Brunswick, NJ.  She is a Conservative rabbi and lives in Highland Park with her husband, Mordy, and three sons, Isaac, Sammy and Jonah.

Sarah Portilla
Director of Engagement

Sarah was born and raised in the beautiful state of New Jersey.  She is a graduate of RU and received her MSW from University of Pennsylvania.  As a jersey girl she loves all things jersey including discussions of diners, garden state parkway exits and even the merits of not being allowed to pump ones own gas.  Sarah lives in South Brunswick with her husband Dan their son Noah. She is very excited to be back at Rutgers!

Barbara Josephs Cohen
Senior Development Officer

Barbara has been at Rutgers Hillel since 2003 when she orchestrated the year-long “Israel Inspires” Initiative. She lives in West Orange with her husband, Michael, whom she met when they were both freshmen at Tufts University. They are the proud parents of Jonathan and Matthew.

Lee Rosenfield
Development Director

Lee was the National Director of Development for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, a position he held for almost two years.  He also worked professionally for 12 years as Director of Institutional Advancement for Gratz College and as a Development Officer for Jewish Federations of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.   

Lee received his Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California  and Master of Jewish Communal Service degree from Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion.  He attended the University of New Hampshire and the University of Granada in Spain as an undergraduate.  Lee lived in Israel for one year on Project Otzma.  Lee grew up in Salem, Mass. 

Laurie Zinberg
Office Manager

Laurie grew up in Perth Amboy, NJ. She lives in Springfield with her husband, Scott. Their daughter, Marissa, is a teacher of autistic children and their son, Greg is a recent graduate of Rutgers.

Yonina Creditor
Jewish Theological Seminary Rabbinical School Intern

Yonina Creditor was raised in Richmond, Virginia. She attended List College for her undergraduate degrees and JTS's Davidson School of Education for her Masters. She then worked as a youth and family programs director in New Jersey before starting Rabbinical School. She has spent the last couple of summers at Camp Ramah as the waterfront director. She has just returned from her year of study in Israel, where she became a certified scuba diver.



Jordana Ornstein
Social Work Intern

Jordana is from Elizabeth, NJ.  She graduated in May '09 from Douglass College with a major in Jewish Studies. Because Jordana LOVES Rutgers so much she will be sticking around for 2 more years to complete her MSW.  As an undergrad, Jordana was an active member of Delta Gamma and all things Greek, Dance Marathon, and of course Hillel! If you'd like to know more about any of those things, or to just talk about anything at all, Jordana will be happy to chitchat.  Come talk to Jordana anytime, she'll be on Brittne's couch!
